Statement of Esfarayen University of Technology Condemning Attacks on Universities and Scientific Centers in Iran

The Esfarayen University of Technology (EUT) expresses its deepest sorrow and strongly condemns the inhumane, brutal, and criminal Zionist-U.S. attacks on universities and scientific and research centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the official announcement by the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, more than 30 universities have been directly targeted. In these attacks, 10 faculty members during the 12-Day War, 10 faculty members during the Ramadan War, and over 60 students have attained the sublime rank of martyrdom. Furthermore, more than 30 scientific facilities and 154 other sites within universities and educational and research centers have been struck.

Attacks on scientific and academic centers—which symbolize thought, knowledge, research, and the very foundation of human societal progress—are a completely inhumane act, a violation of all international legal norms, and a clear instance of a crime against humanity.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as one of the oldest cradles of science, knowledge, culture, and civilization in the world, has always played an irreplaceable role in the advancement of wisdom and the creation of scientific and cultural institutions. The ancient history of this land—from the establishment of Jundishapur University to today's leading centers—stands as clear evidence of the enduring pursuit of knowledge and wisdom in dear Iran. Within this historical and civilizational context, attacks on universities and research centers such as Sharif University, University of Science and Technology, Isfahan University of Technology, Shahid Beheshti University, the Pasteur Institute of Iran, Isfahan University of Art, and other scientific and research institutions constitute not only an assault on the nation's human and scientific capital but also a direct attack on truth, independence, cultural identity, and the future of nations.

Iran's academic community has consistently emphasized peace, rational dialogue, knowledge production, and sustainable development, and it rejects and condemns any violation of the sacred realm of universities and research centers.

Esfarayen University of Technology while expressing solidarity with the esteemed families of the martyrs of science and knowledge, respected faculty members, researchers, students, and all staff of affected universities and research centers, declares that these crimes will never be able to halt the resolute path of science and awareness in Iran. Iranian academics, with even greater determination, will continue the path of scientific advancement and the protection of human and national ideals.

Furthermore, we expects all international scientific communities, non-governmental organizations, and human rights advocates to not remain silent in the face of this blatant crime and to take effective and immediate action to prevent the recurrence of such anti-human assaults on scientific and academic centers.
